Document Description
The applicants propose a Use Permit and Reclamation Plan to establish and operate an open-pit gravel quarry within a 3,000+/- acre ranch. The quarry is planned to occupy a total of 58 acres with quarrying operations dedicated to three individually phased areas. Each area is planned to be phased in succession, with a 2 to 8 year life each. The quarry areas would be reclaimed as operations to relocate to the ensuing area. The rock quarry would be operated on a seasonal and intermittent basis for 20 years. 900,000 cubic yards of material are planned for harvest with annual production estimated at 20,000 to 100,000 cubic yards. Material excavation, screening, and crushing are all planned. Some blasting of material may be necessary as operations necessitate. No material batching is proposed. The proposed quarry would provide a continued rock source for road and construction materials. Simultaneous harvest and crushing of road materials from the existing quarry and the proposed quarry would only occur at a time when either the material within the existing quarry would near exhaustion or more likely, at a time when an additional operator would contract for material and could not locate their operations within the existing quarry site.
