Document Description
The proposed project consists of the expansion and remodel of the existing Orange Main Library. A portion of the 100 block of North Center Street would be abandoned to accommodate the proposed project. A two-story structure totaling approximately 28,000 square feet would be constructed on the abandoned portion of Center Street as an addition to the existing 17,000 square foot library. The Edwards House, an adjacent property located at 431 East Chapman Avenue, would be sold as part of the proposed project. The Edwards House is a former residence now owned by the City of Orange and is listed as contributing structure to the City's Historic District. The existing Orange Main Library parking lot and the adjacent City Redevelopment Agency-owned parking lot located on the northwest corner of Chapman Avenue and North Center Street would be modified and reconfigured to provide a total of 162 on-site parking spaces for Library patrons.
