Document Description
The acquisition and site improvements of the Sacramento Southern Pacific Railroad Station (The Depot) located at the northeast corner of Fifth and "I" Streets. The City plans to acquire the property for public purpose to ensure the continued public transit functions at the site. The project has a two-fold purpose; 1) to ensure the continued public transit functions at the site, including public investments by acquiring The Depot and REA Building, and the surrounding 4.1-acre property, and 2) to upgrade existing site elements (principally parking and landscaping to address immediate safety concerns (increased public safety and better circulation) and ADA deficiencies, and to prevent further deterioration of the site. Site improvements will include: Repair and upgrade surface parking lot drainage; Repair and maintenance of existing parking facilities through replacement of asphalt surfaces and installation of new striping; Install new building pavement; Design and install landscape planters; Engineer and build ADA curb ramps; Install parking lot lighting; Design separations and build structures to keep pedestrians away from automobile and rapid transit modes of transportation.
