Document Description
Yolo County is proposing to construct a groundwater disposal system at the Yolo County Central Landfill. Use of offsite this system will eliminate the need for discharging treated groundwater offsite. (Currently, the landfill maintains and operates an onsite air stripper groundwater remediation system that removes the volatile organic compounds from the groundwater which is then discharged offsite to an irrigation ditch.) The disposal system will consist of a storage reservoir to hold the treated groundwater in the rainy season and a land application area that will be used to grow crops that uptake boron and selenium. These crops will be irrigated with the treated groundwater from the reservoir during the dry season. Monitoring will be required to ensure that the soil and groundwater are not impacted by boron and selenium.
