Document Description
Convert a segment of State Route 99 from a four-lane expressway to a six-lane freeway and construct an interchange near Road 20 and Avenue 2 1/2 near the community of Fairmead in Madera County. The conversion would take place between kilometer post 31.54 (post mile 19.6), which is approximately 1.45 kilometers (0.9 miles) south of Avenue 21 1/2, and kilometer post 36.37 (post mile 22.6), which is approximately 0.18 kilometers (0.1 mile) south of the separation of State Routes 152 and 99 (Figures 1-1 and 1-2). Problems with this section of State Route 99 include lack of route continuity, roadway deficiencies, safety and operational problems, and increased traffic demand.
