Document Description
The project will excavate 90,250 cubic yards of rock and soil to shift the road alignment inland of the slide plane. Two soil-nail walls (up to 60 feet high) will be constructed to stabilize the slope above the road and horizontal drains will be installed to dewater the slope. A row of piles will be cast in drilled holes adjacent to the down-hill side of the road to stabilize the hillside.

During the storms of early January a slipout occurred at this location causing the road to settle more than 1 foot. The hillside continues to slip creating more damage and the imminent loss of the road and poses a substantial safety risk to the public. This sudden, unexpected occurrence, demands immediate action to prevent or mitigate loss of, or damage to life, health, property and essential public services.
