The Operator proposes to alter the streambed and banks by removing accumulated sediment from within the concrete-lined approach channels and aprons of both Hicks and East Hicks Canyon Retarding Basins. The basin design allows for a 25% sediment accumulation before the sediment affects the hydraulic capacity of the basin. SAA #5-2001-0077

The project is to implement routine maintenance on two existing retarding basins located in Hicks Canyon and East Hicks Canyon creeks. The proposed maintenance allows for the removal of accumalated sediment that potentially effects the hydraulic capacity of the basins and also provides for preservation of maturing riparian vegetation to provide for wildlife habitat.
