A variety of methods, including prescribed burns, manual removal, and herbicide application, will be used to control and reduce populations of invasive yellow star thistle, ailanthus, and other non-native species at Columbia State Historic Park, improving conditions for native plant species and foraging areas for native fauna, and protecting park facilities (damage of sewers, water lines, foundations, etc. by tree roots).
