Document Description
West Coast Recycling Co., Inc. (West Coast) currently leases an approximately 185,000 square foot shed and about 120,000 square feet of adjacent yard space at the Pier 96 marine terminal on the City's southern waterfront. The facility is used by West Coast's recycling business, "Recycling Central," to receive and process sorted and non-sorted recyclable material and to load shipping containers and trucks with recovered materials. The proposed project is the acceptance and processing of recyclable materials that are more strictly regulated by the City's Health Department and the California Integrated Waste Management Board. To accommodate these "regulated recyclables," West Coast must obtain a full Solid Waste Facilities Permit (SWFP) from the City's Health Department. The Negative Declaration evaluates the environmental effects of receiving and processing regulated recyclables utilizing West Coast's infrastructure at Recycle Central. The project site is located in an M-2 Zoning District and a 40-X Height and Bulk.
