Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to remove the existing concrete channel bottom lining Carbonera Creek in Santa Cruz County at the juncture of State Route (SR) 1 and SR 17. This mitigation project is part of a larger transportation safety project. The original Streambed Alteration Agreement (#1600-2003-0503-3) (Agreement) was issued in July 10, 2003; construction ended in October of 2006. As part of the original Agreement, Caltrans was to remove the existing sack concrete and concrete cut-off walls from Branciforte and Carbonera Creeks. However, due to project delays, the concrete removal in Carbonera Creek did not occur before the Agreement expired on December 31, 2006. Accordingly, this Agreement covers the removal of the sack concrete and the concrete cut-off walls that line the Carbonera Creek bed. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2008-0165-3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Karen Bewley, California Department of Transportation, District 5.
