Document Description
This project, to be carried out by the City of Martinez for the planting of 70 trees in various locations throughout the City. It is anticipated that this project will commence planting trees from November 2002 and run through December 2002. Trees will be native and non-native ornamentals that have been selected for their disease resistance, adaptation of the urban landscape, shade capacity, and minimal litter production. Trees will be 15 gallon size, and all trees wil be planted, staked and tied, watered and maintained in accordance with the California Department of Foresty and Fire Protection's tree planting guidelines.

As lead agency under CEQA, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection finds that this project is Categorically Exempt from further environmental analysis. This project involves minor alterations to land and vegetation inclding the planting of new landscaping trees. As this is a heavily disturbed urban environment there is low likelihood of impacting any significant biological resources. CDF's staff have reviewed this project and determined that there are cultural or historic resources present in the project vicinity. CDF finds that the proposed activities will pose a less than significant impact to the environment including cultural, historic and biological resources.
