Document Description
The proposed new school will occupy a total of approximately 11 acres of the total 17.85 acres and will be an elementary school. The existing site is flat and presently in agricultural use but is designated for low-density residential use in the City's General Plan. The total school population is planned for approximately 500 students; typical school buildings and uses will include classrooms, administrative offices, playgrounds, library, multi-purpose rooms, cafeteria, parking (for teachers, staff and visitors), fire lanes, and landscaping. The buildings have not been designed or sited yet, but will be designed to comply with the California Department of Education's standards and all local zoning codes. In addition to the onsite school facilities, offsite road and sidewalk improvements will be developed, and water and sewer connections are planned. It should be noted that the Draft Initial Study reviewed two alternative sites (SW#1 and SW#2). On January 10, 2002, the School Board determined that site SW #1 was preferred and this Mitigated Negative Declaration is prepared for the SW#1 site.
