Document Description
The proposed new elementary school will occupy the entire 9.41-acre site. The existing site is flat and presently in agricultural use with one single-family home, but is designated for low-density residential use in the City's General Plan. The total school population is planned for approximately 500 students; typical school buildings and uses will include classrooms, administrative offices, playgrounds, library, multi-purpose rooms, cafeteria, parking (for teachers, staff, and visitors) fire lanes, and landscaping. The buildings have not been designed or sited yet, but will be designed to comply with the California Department of Education's standards and all local zoning codes. In addition to the onsite school facilities, offsite road and sidewalk improvements will be developed, and water and sewer connections are planned. It should be noted that the Draft Initial Study reviewed three alternative sites (E #1, E #2, and E #3) generally in the same area. On January 10, 2002, the School Board determined that site E #1 was preferred and this Mitigated Negative Declaration is prepared for the E #1 site.
