Document Description
The Lawndale Elementary School District (LESD) plans to construct a new elementary school at the site of the existing Lucille Smith Elementary School and the First Congregational Church of Lawndale. The New Elementary School project is being proposed by the LESD to accommodate elementary school facility needs, based on current facility needs and enrollment growth projections. New construction would include a two-story first through second grade building with 20 classrooms, a one-story kindergarten building with two classrooms, a one-story multi-purpose building (with a library, administration, and food services), an amphitheater, a turf play area, and hardscape play areas. Parking for 37 vehicles would be provided in a surface parking lot at the southern end of the site. The project would require demolition of the existing Lucille Smith Elementary School and the First Congregational Church of Lawndale, in order to allow for construction of the school.
