Document Description
The proposed project involves the construction of two pumping plants, 3 miles of pipeline, three drainage sumps, and 550 acres of subsurface drainage tile. The 550 acres will be planted with 420 acres of agricultural forage crops, 10 acres of pistachio trees, and 120 acres of salt tolerant forage crops. Once the crops are mature, they will be irrigated with subsurface drainage water delivered through the project facilities in order to reduce the volume of drain water discharged through the Grassland Bypass to the San Joaquin River. The project will have the capability of disposing of 1,400 acre feet of drain water annually, preventing up to 250 lbs. of selenium, 27,000 lbs of boron, and 8,000 tons of salt from being discharge, while protecting groundwater and maintaining soil quility to allow continued productivity.
