Document Description
The proposed Project involves the purchase of land and the design and construction of a 15-20 acre spill and drainage water recovery basin on developed agricultural land located adjacent to the Marshall Road Drain. The Marshall Road Drain collects canal operational spill water and surface drainage from a 6,800 acre agricultural area surrounding the Drain. The reservoir design will necessitate the construction of levees for the proposed reservoir, control structures, and pumping facilities as required to divert the existing drain flow into the reservoir, and to allow water to be re-diverted as required into an existing irrigation delivery canal. The drain water is currently discharged into the San Joaquin River. The goals of the project are to a) reduce the silt loading to the San Joaquin river, b) reduce the Organophosphorus Pesticides in drainage water discharged to the San Joaquin River, c) reduce the constituents that adversely affect the dissolved oxygen level within the San Joaquin River, and d) develop new water through the construction of an operational spill and tailwater recovery reservoir to further improve the local efficiency of water management.
