Document Description
The proposed project is to construct a new bridge crossing for Southside Road, over Tres Pinos Creek, and to replace an existing deficient bridge, using funds provided by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The existing bridge is structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. The new bvridge will be a ten-span, 20-inch thick, cast-in-place, concrete flat slab supported by cast-in drilled hole concrete pilings. The dimensions of the new bridge deck will be 32-feet, eight-inches wide and 351-feet long. The new bridge will be located approximately 50 feet north (upstream) on the western end, and 150 north of the eastern end of the existing Southside Road bridge, and will require new abutments to be constructed. 1/4 ton rock slope protection will be installed to protect the new abutments. the adjoining portions of Southside Road (County Road No. 86) would be aligned to connect with the new bridge structure. The existing steel truss bridge and piles will be removed upon completion of the new bridge.
