Document Description
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is proposing to install a new, gas-fired combined-cycle generating system (CCGS) at the existing Haynes Generating Station, take two existing steam boilers out of service, and make necessary changes to accommodate the new system. The new CCGS will include two natural gas-fired combustion gas turbines (CTs), two heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), one new steam turbine generator, and associated selective catalyctic reduction (SCR) air pollution control equipment. The CCGS will require modifications in the plant's existing cooling water intake and discharge systems, as well as installation of appurtenant equipment. The Initial Study concludes that adverse impacts may occur in the following environmental areas: air quality, hydrology and water quality, noise, and transportation/traffic. Potential adverse impacts to these environmental areas will be further evaluated in the Draft EIR.
