Document Description
The project includes installation and subsequent removal of a Spittler-type temporary crossing in a Class II stream at location X1 identified in the approved Timber Harvest Plan. The proposed crossing is intended to provide access to a portion of the harvest area for THP 1-01-167 SMO. Two or more logs approximately 15 to 20 feet long will be placed in the channel over a layer of straw. A flexible conduit at least four inches in diameter will be placed below and between the logs to conduct any water that may be present. A layer of straw will be placed on top of the logs, and then covered by a layer of soil. The completed crossing will be used for log skidding during harvesting operations. This crossing is temporary and will be used only during the summer and/or early fall of 2002. Following completion of harvesting operations, or prior to October 15, 2002, whichever comes first, all material placed in the stream channel will be removed and the stream channel and banks restored to original grade. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement R3-2001-0747, pursuant to Section 1603 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Roy Webster, Webster & Associates.
