Document Description
Don Pedro Elementary School is currently overcrowded. The school is designed to accommodate 840 students on a year round schedule and currently has 879 students on a year round schedule. In order to accommodate this increased enrollment, the District was forced to move instructional support programs into the cafeteria. The addition of one emergency portable classroom will provide classroom space for these programs. The portable classroom will be placed wholly within the exising campus so no land acquistion will be required. The District has decided to place two additional elementary schools on year round schedules on July 1, 2002 which should reduce the overcrowding at Don Pedro and allow the District to return this portable to the state. The emergency portable classroom will be installed in early 2002. The purpose of the project is to provide an additional classroom for growth. The direct beneficiaries of the project are the students, the faculty, and the administration.
