Document Description
As part of the energy conservation measures at the Aatascadero State Hospital Facility, this project would replace the current cooling, heating and ventilation systems with a new high pressure steam absorption chiller, cooling tower, pumps, motors, piping, chiller room, electric power service and related controls. The project will provide stack economizer to steam boilers to enhance gas savings. The project will install a system to more effectively control scale and biological deposits to the cooling towers and chillers, which will result in less water usage and repetitive chemical costs. Engineered venturi nozzles will be installed to reduce the amount of live steam lost in the present system and reduce annual boiler & gas expenditures for the facility. The project is needed to improve the delivery of heating and cooling in the facility, reduce present energy losses, and conserve energy and utilize it more efficiently. The project would accommodate existing facility staff and patients, and would result in substantial reduction in maintenance costs for the facility.
