Investigate the grassy field south of entrance to Fort Ross State Historic Park by remote sensing and test excavations to determine, if possible, the location of the original Russian windmill on the site. Once remote sensing of the site is completed, approximately five test plots (one meter square) will be excavated to a depth of approximately 60 centimeters. Area has been previously disturbed and vegetation is primarily non-native annuals, with sparse strands of coyote bush. A DPR archaeologist will conduct or monitor all excavations.
