The project site is within the High Soils Erosion Hazard Area, the Scott Valley Deer Winter Range Area, the High Wildfire Hazard Area, and Prime Agricultural Soils Area. Zoning Ag-1-B-80 (Prime Agricultural, with 80-ac re minimum parcel size) and Ag-2-B-40 (Non-Prime Agricultural, with 40-acre minimum parcel size). The proposed project site is located on gently sloping, relatively flat property, approximately 1,400 feet south of the Scott River. Vegetation at the project site consists mainly of native grasses. Deer, rodents and song birds are common in the area. The parcel is shown as being within the Scott Valley Deer Winter Range and as an area containing Prime Agriculural Soils, according the Siskiyou County General Plan and the Scott Valley Area Plan.
Document Description
The applicants request Use Permit approval to bring into compliance an existing, seasonally operated (May through September) private recreational facility. Proposed activities would include: youth and/or adult sport camps (i.e. martial arts, biking, hiking), seminars on various topics (wildlife photography, weight control), and also arts and crafts courses. Maximum occupancy of the recreational facility would include up to 90 guests (typically for one day events), with an average of 20 to 30 guests typically staying three to seven days.
