Document Description
On May 23, 1996, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) and the California Office of Planning and Research issued a Notice of Preparation of an Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Statement (EIR/EIS) per CEQA and NEPA requirements for the Community Trail Intertie Project. The EIR/EIS was completed in July 1999 and portions of the Community Trail Intertie Project are being constructed at this time. Since review and certification of the EIR/EIS, a revised alignment has become available to the trail segment that crosses the Truckee River in the vicinity of Fanny Bridge.
The proposed alignment, the Truckee River Outlet Crossing, would connect to the existing Truckee River Trail on the east side of Bridge at Highway 89, and would then proceed through the Bridgetender parcel (APN 94-540-16), extend across the Truckee River Dam (APN 94-540-17), and terminate just east of Izzy's Burger Spa (APN 94-190-29).
The proposed trail alignment would encroach lands owned by State of California and operated by California State Parks (Bridgetender). The proposed dam crossing would also encroach onto lands owned by Sierra Pacific Power Company and operated by the United States Bureau of Reclamation (BOR).
