In 1992, the Lakeport City Council adopted an General Plan which includes a Open Space, Parks and Recreation Element which called for the development of new parks within the City. City staff has discussed the concept for new facilities for years. The City Planning Commission and the City Parks and Recreation Commission have both been involved in carrying out the Open Space, Parks and Recreation Element of the General Plan.
