The proposed project is composed of four related actions: 1) consolidating Merced Irrigation District (Merced ID) with El Nido Irrigation District (El Nido ID), 2) proceeding with the petition to the State Water Resources Control Board for an additional place of use to licenses Merced ID holds to divert water directly from the Merced River and from its storage at Lake McClure to complete the district consolidation (and related actions), 3) implementing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Merced ID and the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) regarding October instream flows, other interim instream flows, and fishery studies in the lower Merced River in order to remove the CDFG protest to the petition, and 4) as provided in the MOU exhibits, implementing the Merced River Adaptive Management Plan (MRAMP) that is the flow regime that would be implemented should the SJRA/VAMP project be terminated pursuant to provision(s) of the SJRA.
