Document Description
The proposed project consists of amendments to the General Plan and the El Cerrito Specific Plan. Both amendments are being reviewed concurrently and will amend approximately 108.5 acres from a light industrial designation to a commercial designation. The Specific Plan amendment will also include 5 acres of commercial property that is presently designated for commercial purposes. The 5 acres, however, is being amended to the new commercial designation proposed for the El Cerrito Specific Plan. Therefore, the project in its entirety will encompass 113.5 acres. The site is not listed on any governmental list of hazardous waste facilities as enumerated under Section 65962.5 of Government Code. The amendments are planned to allow a flexible mix of retail, entertainment, and office commercial uses unified in a cohesive commercial center. The resulting mix of commercial and office uses are intended to serve the region, the Corona sub-region, and the local community. The project proposes to develop up to 1,160,000 square feet of commercial space, including a 120-room hotel and a 3,360-seat movie theater, within the Commercial Center zoning district proposed for the project area.
