City of Gonzales Water Tank

The project includes construction of a 2.5 million-gallon water tank to augment the City of Gonzales' existing water distribution system. This tank will be located adjacent to the City's existing one million-gallon (1.0 MG) tank located in Monterey County jurisdiction and northeast of the City at the intersection of Johnson Canyon Road and Iverson Road. The need for this tank is discussed in the General Plan Chapter VII, Section B.1. Though the General Plan references a new tank, its location was not determined until recently. As stated in the Gonzales General Plan Environmental Impact Report, the existing storage capacity of 1.0 MG is inadequate for projected domestic and fire fighting purposes. A twelve-inch water line currently connects the existing tank to the City's water distribution system. The new tank implements the City's April 2001 Water System Master Plan. The property owner will provide the City an easement on a 150 x 300-foot portion of the 110 acre-parcel on which the tank will be located.
