The project site is zoned for open space and agricultural land uses. The current use of the properties are the landfill and recycling facility, and adjacent agricultural and vacant properties.
The project consists of a proposal to construct a paleontological museum and visitor's center on a closed portion of the landfill to display the fossils found during the construction of the Fairmead Landfill Expansion.
