Document Description
Alternative Site A will involve the acquisition of up to 18 surrounding residential lots in order to accommodate the reconstruction and expansion of the Mead Elementary School. Alternative Site A acquisitions will affect approximately 14 single-family and 8 multi-family dwelling units on 2.6 acres. Alternative Site B will involve the construction of a new Mead Elementary School on the adjacent 7.2 acres just west and south of Chollas Elementary School. Approximately 6.33 acres is District-owned property; the remaining property (0.87 acre) will be acquired through vacation of a portion of 45th Street between Market Street and the school site. Under this alternative, Chollas Elementary will accommodate up to 550 students (grades K-5) and the new Mead Elementary School will accommodate up to 450 students (grades K-5). There will be capacity to add an additional 100 students at each school for a maximum capacity of 1,200 students at the site.
