Document Description
Acquisition of up to 18 surrounding residential lots is proposed to accommodate reconstruction of the Mead Elementary School. The proposed acquisition would affect approximately 14 single-family and 8 multi-family dwelling units on 2.6 acres. The proposed project includes demolition and/or removal of all existing school and residential structures. The school will be reconstructed with approximately 38,000 square feet of permanent one- and two-story classrooms and support facilities. The facility would continue to serve 350 students, grades K-5 and a Child Development Center for approximately 60 preschoolers. The faculty will remain at 35 full time employees. The expansion will allow additional playground and playfield areas. While an increase in students and staff is not anticipated at the reconstructed school facilities, based on the adopted Community Land Use Plan and District policies, the site would be able to accommodate an additional 100 students and 5 faculty in relocatable classrooms if unforseen future circumstances warrant.
