Document Description
The operator proposes to alter the streambed by manually removing invasive species consisting of Arundo (Arundo donax), castor bean (Ricinus communis), and non-native grape from within an approximately 1.40-acre portion of Sycamore Channel, west of the 605 Freeway within Whittler, California. The purpose of this project is to partially restore channel design and storm flow capacity, as required by a foliar spray with the herbicide Rodeo. Cuttings shall be removed utilizing a backhoe located outside the streambed channel. At no time will any equipment enter the stream channel. Jute netting shall be installed on exposed channel banks as necessary to minimize erosion and siltation potential. All disturbed areas shall be re-seeded with native grasses. Additional applications of foliar spray shall be applied as needed.
