Document Description
California Department of Fish and Game is intending to execute a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 1603 (SAA# R5-2002-0174) of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Sycamore Landfill. The applicant proposes to alter the streambed to continue the operation of the Sycamore Landfill which has been in operation since the 1960s. The project will occur in three phases which include the brushing and clearing of 205 acres north of and adjacent to Litte Sycamore Canyon, impacting 3.03 acres of jurisdictional streams. An aggregate processing operation is o be added to the landfill site to process aggregate materials excavated for the continued landfill development. Mitigation will include the creation/restoration of0.32 acres of mulefat scrub and 2.87 acres of stream that supports scattered riparian scrub habitat and the preservation of 2.87 acres of jurisdictional stream. Plant communities found on the project site include: coastal sage scrub, native grassland, annual grassland, southern mixed chaparral, mulefat scrub (0.16 acres) and unvegetated stream (2.87 acres). The project is located within the East Elliott Community Planning Area of the City of San Diego, San Diego County.
