Document Description
Proposal of the City of Riverside Redevelopment Agency and University of California, Riverside to acquire properties at Ninth Street and the Main Street pedestrian mall in downtown Riverside and develop a Center for the Arts. Specifically, the Redevelopment Agency will acquire the subject properties, relocate the existing business and sell the property to the University of California, Riverside (UCR) which will develop the proposed facility. The conceptual development plan for Arts Center includes renovation of a historic building for art programming-related uses. Demolition of a commercial building and removal of the parking lot are proposed to accommodate a 250 seat performance hall. The remainder of the site will be developed with a small surface parking lot and sculpture garden. In order to implement the project, the Redevelopment Agency will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with UCR which sets out the responsibilities of the parties involved.
