Document Description
The City of Santa Monica proposes to update its existing Housing Element pursuant to Section 65302 (c) of the California Government Code. The Housing Element represents a component of the City of Santa Monica General Plan, a planning document that identifies the community's long-term goals for development. The Housing Element sets forth the City's five-year strategy to preserve and enhance the community's character, expand housing opportunites for all economic segments, and provide guidance and direction for local government decision making in all matters related to housing. The goals and objectives contained in the 2000-2005 Housing Element provide an implementation strategy for effectively addressing the housing needs of all Santa Monica residents for the 2000-2005 period.
