Document Description
Remove and replace existing water supply line (Chase plumbing) and main subterranean feeder lines for Neptune Pool (Reflection Pool) at Hearst San Simeon State Historic Monument. Steel piping and valves will be replaced with PVC/Schedule 80 and brass isolation valves will be added throughout both lines. Space restrictions do not allow steel piping to be replaced in kind; however, this plumbing is not readily accessible, visible, or of unique character and is not a significant historical element of the design of operation of the pool. Steel scum gutter and return lines will also be replaced; PVC isolation valves will be installed in these lines. Existing pipes are painted with lead-base paint; all pipe cutting will be performed by a licensed professional trained in lead abatement and proper disposal. Disposal will be consistent with applicable federal, state, and local environmental requirements; compliance will be documented. Photographs will be taken of project before, during, and after construction and CAD schematics made of the entire plumbing system.
