Document Description
Repair, remove, and reconstruct selected existing roads, parking areas, and trails in Donner Memorial State Park as necessary to decrease erosion and other environmental damage, restore natural drainage patterns, and improve recreational and maintenance access. Roads needed for recreation or railroad right-of-way will be recontoured to provide better drainage and repair washouts; minor regrading and outsloping will also be used. Small segments will be rerouted to improve drainage or protect environmentally sensitive areas. Debris from road will also be removed from adjacent streambeds to restore flow and reduce erosion. Areas where roads or trails are removed will be recontoured to match surrounding topography and revegetated with native species and mulch. Three existing parking lots will be regraded and rocked; signage will also be installed. Work will be primarily confined to existing footprints and adjacent, previously disturbed areas. A DPR archeologist has evaluated the sites and will monitor ground-disturbing activities in potentially sensitive areas.
