Document Description
Lynwood Unified School District proposes to construct a new elementary school for approximately 710 students on an approximately 4.2 acre site in the City of Lynwood. The existing Lynwood schools are at or exceeding capacity, and anticipated population increases will increase enrollment demand further. The proposed school would relieve overcrowding at the existing elementary schools by permitting transfer of currently-enrolled students to the new location and accommodating future enrollment demand from anticipated new residents. No immediate overall increase in District enrollment is projected as a result of the proposed project. Construction would include approximately 51,730 gross square feet of classrooms, multipurpose room/stage/lunch area, administrative and support space, plus 84,467 gross square feet of hardcourt and playing fields and 39,555 square feet of landscaping/open space. Approximately 65 parking spaces would be provided in a surface lot. The District proposes to acquire vacant commercial buildings, vacant lots, and 19 residential buildings/single family homes located on the site.
