Present Land Use
Point Lobos State Reserve is part of the California State Parks system and is zoned Resource Conservation (Coastal Zone); Monastery Beach is zoned Outdoor Recreation (Coastal Zone); existing highway and Caltrans right-of-way.
Document Description
Wastewater will be gathered from six collection points and pumped to CAWD's sanitary sewer collection system near the intersection of Highway 1 and Ribera Road, in the Carmel Meadows subdivision. A public restroom will be installed at the Cypress Point site within the Reserve. There is an add-alternate item to the project that would allow for additional off-site wastewater to be connected to the proposed system. The only additions, which would be connected at a later date with separate environmental review, would be the Highlands Inn, the Tickle Pink Inn, and 14 private residences, all of which are currently on private sewer systems. This would entail upsizing the PPS and force main as a part of the current project.
