Document Description
The proposed project would install three boulder weirs through the project site to create step pools to facilitate steelhead migration through the site. The boulder weirs would be designed in accordance with specifications from the "California Salmonid Stream Habitat Restoration Manual" and meet National Marine Fisheries Service criteria for fish passage projects. The site would be dewatered during construction, and approximately two cubic yards of gravel would be removed from the streambed at each weir location (total of six cubic yards removed) to provide a base for setting the boulders. The gravel would be removed using a backhoe operated from the access road. The boulders would be anchored to the edge of the concrete access road using 3/4-inch steel cable glued to the boulders and bank. Approximately 1.5 cubic yards of gravel or small rock would be placed along the edge of the road to prevent undercutting. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2001-0434 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1603.
