Document Description
Under the proposed project, the California Army National Guard would construct a modern organizational maintenance shop (OMS) at Camp San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo County. This project is needed because the existing maintenance shop does not meet National Guard space requirements and the shop is not suitable for expansion or rehabilitation. The approximately 12,670 square foot OMS and associated facilities would be constructed over approximately 12 to 14 months. The total surface area to be disturbed is an estimated 93,768 square feet (2.15 acres). Operation of the OMS would be a continuation of the services provided by the existing maintenance shop, which is staffed by eight employees from 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM Tuesday through Friday. The facility supports 250 vehicles and 100 pieces of equipment operated by units at Camp San Luis Obispo. Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wheeled vehicles makes up most of the operations performed at the facility.
