Document Description
The applicant is proposing to expand the existing approximately 60,000 square foot Estancia Winery by construction of an approximately 130,000 square foot winery facility that will include barrel storage, wine tanks, grape reception/crushing area, case goods area (eventually to become a million case facility), and assortment of auxiliary areas to include office, mechanical building, bottling area, chemical storage, staff room, barrel washing area, visitor reception area, and parking. The new facility will be constructed in three phases. Phase 1 will include the barrel room building. Phase 2 is construction of the tank fermentation area and grape reception area. Phase 3 includes construction of the bottling, visitor center and new offices. Completion of the entire project is anticipated in December 2004. In addition, the project includes a 4,800 square foot agricultural shop building and a 7,200 square foot pole building (a building with no walls) to be used for storing/parking harvesting equipment on an acre of land located on the most easterly end of the Estancia property. These buildings will replace the current shop buildings located adjacent to the existing winery. The 16.15 acre parcel is currently used in part by the Estancia Winery, the Estancia agricultural shop operations, remnant vineyard, and temporary construction yard for the current expansion of the existing Estancia Winery allowed by permit 95-01.
