Document Description
Applicant presently has approximately 339 acres in vineyards on a 415-acre ploy, and will be converting the remaining 76 acres from oat hayfield to vineyard. Area is presently irrigated by direct diversion from Sisquoc River underflow under claim of riparian right, and by ground water wells. Applicant wishes to add storage rights for frost protection and drip irrigation to the entire plot, using three existing shallow wells on the property. Applicant also wishes to add a fourth point of diversion on an ephemeral stream (a shallow, highly modified drainage ditch) that traverses the property. Water will be stored in three pit-type reservoirs presently located on the property; these will be enlarged to a capacity of 50 acre-feet each. One protest was received concerning possible impacts to steelhead; this protest was later withdrawn.
