The proposed removal action includes the removal of soil (disposal fill material) and processing the soil through a mechanical shifting apparatus to separate ordinance items and construction debris. Shifted soil will be temporarily stockpiled at IR Site 5 and then relocated over time for beneficial reuse at other locations of the site. The discovered live ordinance will be detonated on site under the direction of Navy EOD personnel. All inert materials, debris and scrap metal will be sent to off-site disposal facilities.
