Establish a well for the Washington Ridge Conservation Camp. The site is at the original water source for the camp when the camp was built in 1961. The original site consists of 32 concrete water tanks approximately 5 feet tall and 6 feet in diameter. There is an existing pilot well at this location. It is lined with well casing and capped. The project will entail drilling a new well within 25 feet of the old pilot well. Impacts will only be to the area of the well drilling (approximately 12 inch in diameter).

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
15301
Reasons for Exemption
The well drilling will occur at an existing well site that also has water conveyance pipes leading to the Conservation Camp. The impact from drilling the new well will be minimal. Only that area to be drilled will be impacted and that area currently is the site of existing water collection tanks and a well shaft. No archaeological sites are known to exist on the site. No impacts are anticipated to fish and wildlife resources as the physical impact from the project is negligible. The tailings from the well drilling can be feathered onto the adjacent road.
