Document Description
Dredge the Cole Creek Channel at Clear Lake State Park to maintain boat access to ramp and docks. Material will be removed by a clam-shell dredge from an area beginning just downstream of the Cole Creek footbridge, adjacent the boat ramp/docks, and extending 1000 feet long by 50 feet wide into the lake. This portion of the channel requires dredging approximately every 20 years to maintain accessibility; the last dredging occurred in the late 1980s. No dredging will occur within 10 feet of the bank vegetation to protect existing tules and bulrush along banks. Dredged spoils will be deposited and dried in the grassy, open part of the day use area, then removed from park for disposal. There were no detectable levels of metals and organochlorine pesticides in soil borings from the area to be dredged. All spoils will be handled in accordance with hydrilla control requirements and drying area will be revegetated with local natural seed mix and native species as required. Work will not begin until after June 15th to avoid migration and spawning season of the Clear Lake Hitch. A DPR ecologist will be on-site during the first week of the project to monitor work for environmental compliance.
