Document Description
The project proposes to construct a sound wall along the northern side of Route 50 bounded by 38th Street on the west and 43rd Street on the east in the City and County of Sacramento. This project is included in the 1989 Retrofit Sound Wall Program and was originally listed as number 50 on that list. The proposed wall will be 640 m long and up to 14 feet high. The wall will benefit residences located from 38th Street to 42nd Street. The shoulder on 39th Street will be widened to 3.0 m to comply with Caltrans standards. The purpose of the project is to reduce noise levels to affected residences adjacent to the highway. The project will result in a 7 to 8 decibel reduction. The minimum number required for justification of a new sound wall is 5 decibels.
