Document Description
The overall goal is to develop a commercially viable wind turbine capable of competing in the existing de-regulated electrical power industry without subsidies or premiums to compete in the electricity marketplace. The aim is to reduce the cost of electricity (COE) with a more reliable, lighter-weight and cost-effective turbine using an advanced two-bladed, downwind design incorporating new structures, component technology and power electronics. This contract will extend the proof of concept work conducted under the PIER RD&D contract (500-97-032) to a California site and demonstrate the turbine in a commercial setting.
