Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Statutory Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Sec. 15303(e)
Reasons for Exemption
The State CEQA Guidelines, Section 15303, provides that a project may be considered exempt from CEQA if that project consists of limited construction of new, small facilities or structures, which include accessory structures such as patios and fences. The Exterior Lighting Improvement Project meets this criteria. The project would involve the installation of additional lighting fixtures and retrofitting of existing light fixtures to mitigate existing unsafe, dark areas. Construction activities would be of minimum scope and duration. Archaeological monitoring would prevent the destruction of cultural resources, in the unlikely event that they should be uncovered. Project construction and operation woud not have a significant effect on the environment.
