Document Description
Lakeshore Partners proposes to construct 237 residential units over a 500-space parking structure on a site which currently contains a 250-space public parking lot. The project would include an 18-story tower building and a 7-story mid-rise building. One-half of the parking spaces (250 spaces) would be located within a self-park public parking garage and the remainder would be private residential parking spaces. The project would include 5,000 square feet of ground floor commercial uses along the 23rd Street and/or Valdez Street frontages. The site is located in an area of Downtown referred to as the Valdez district, which is adjacent to the Lake Merritt office district of Downtown Oakland. The Valdez district around the project site contains a diverse mixture of urban land uses including auto repair businesses, parking lots, parking structures, a YMCA building with recreational facilities and a public parking structure, residential uses, office uses, and restaurants. The proposed development is consistent with the General Plan land use designation for the site, which is Urban Residential. Construction of the proposed project would require a Major Conditional Use Permit and Design Review approval.
